Bonfire Programme

I volunteered to undertake a complete redesign of a local Bonfire Society’s printed programme (what was I thinking!?).
Traditionally the programme details a brief history of the society, lists of key personnel, human-interest stories, many images of society members (everyone wants to spot pictures of themselves doing fiery things) and information relevant to that year’s event.
I designed a new grid and page layout – based on the Society’s colours – and introduced rules for page numbering and titling.
Next, to fill it with content. The call went out for article writers and after some gentle(!) chivying, I had a nice little stack of stories. I added some contributions of my own, writing and illustrating some articles, and designed and art-worked the pages for contributors’ copy. Our resident photographer provided many pictures of the members and I supplimented with some experimental firework photos of my own.
The whole project was quite a task and consumed a whole lot of my time, however the end result was well received and created a bold, clean design for use in future years.
